Some vehicles use a separate actuator, while others combine the actuator with the complete door-latch assembly. That distinction affects both the diagnosis and the replacement cost.

If you hear a click or faint motor sound but the lock barely moves, the actuator may be weak, the linkage may be binding, or the latch may be stiff. Replace the unit without creating new problems
